Every now and then, a moment in a workday turns into something special. Something worth slowing down for, dressing up for, and enjoying alongside the people who make our work meaningful. That was exactly the case when the Association of Washington Business hosted its annual Evening of Excellence Awards at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Seattle.
This was not your everyday networking mixer or conference. This was a black-tie, sparkling lights, step out on the town kind of evening, filled with gowns, tuxedos, and the shared excitement of honoring some of the best businesses in Washington state.
This year, our MacCoy Home Solutions team had the opportunity to attend and participate in the celebration in a way that made the night even more memorable.
Dressed to the Nines and Ready to Celebrate
Our team arrived at the Fairmont looking quite different from our usual selves on Monday through Friday. Instead of tool belts and boots, we showed up in suits, gowns, and plenty of smiles.
Attending were:

- Derek Collins, Project Manager, with his partner Catherine
- Bill Hurley, Safety Manager and Sales Coordinator, with his fiancée Brandy Hurley
- Aaron McCoy, Founder, with his wife Marie McCoy
Seeing everyone with their partners made the evening feel warm and personal. It was not just a company event. It was a chance to appreciate the people who support us through long work days, busy seasons, and everything in between.
And it has to be said. Everyone looked fantastic. It is not often we trade jobsite dust for polished shoes and tuxedos, but the team embraced it.
A Red Carpet, a Fancy Dinner, and a Room Full of Inspiration
The AWB put on an incredible event. From the moment we walked into the reception, the atmosphere felt electric. Glittering lights, a red carpet photo booth, beautifully decorated tables, and a dinner that made everyone at our table pause and appreciate the exceptional quality of the food. The steak in particular was a crowd favorite.
The energy was joyful and encouraging. It felt like a celebration not only of business success but of the people behind those successes.
One of the most exciting moments for our team was when MacCoy Home Solutions took the stage.
Honoring Safety Excellence and Passing the Torch
Last year, MacCoy Home Solutions received AWB’s Safety in the Workplace Award. It was a meaningful recognition because safety is something we take seriously. It reflects our belief that every team member deserves to go home safe, every client deserves a safe environment, and every jobsite deserves thoughtful management.
As the previous year’s recipients, we had the honor of presenting this year’s award. Our very own Bill Hurley took the stage to present the award to the 2024 winner, Cepheid. It was a proud moment for our team and a reminder of why safety is such an important part of what we do.
Recognition is wonderful, but acknowledging another company’s commitment to safety felt just as rewarding.
Sharing the Night With Washington’s Best
Throughout the evening, we listened to stories from other honorees who shared how their teams contributed to their achievements. There was a sense of shared purpose in the room. Everyone was there to celebrate their people, their values, and their dedication to serving communities across Washington.
It is inspiring to listen to leaders speak about innovation, teamwork, resilience, and community impact. Sitting there together, our team could not help but reflect on how grateful we are to be part of this larger business community. Washington is home to many hardworking individuals who care deeply about their work and the people they serve.
Looking Ahead With Gratitude and Excitement
As we left the Fairmont that night, still chatting about the speeches, the awards, and the dessert, we felt a sense of gratitude. We were grateful for our team, our partners, the spouses who support us, and the opportunities we have had this year.
We hope MacCoy Home Solutions is considered for another award next year. Whether that is in the family-run business category, entrepreneurship, or another area, we would be honored. But more importantly, we are excited to continue building a company that reflects our values.
