Most remodeling companies start with a business plan.
MacCoy Home Solutions started with a growing family, a major life change, and about $5,000 in savings.
In 2014, founder Aaron MacCoy was navigating one of the most pivotal seasons of his life. He was newly sober, preparing to welcome his first daughter, grieving the loss of his father, and buying a home for the first time. By most standards, it was not the ideal moment to leave a steady job and start a company.
But for Aaron, it was exactly the right time.
“I knew I wanted to build something honest,” he says. “Something rooted in family, responsibility, and service.”
With the support of his wife Marie, who has known him since they were teenagers, Aaron decided to take the leap. That decision laid the foundation for MacCoy Home Solutions, a licensed general contracting company serving Lynnwood and the surrounding communities.
Building a Business the Right Way From the Start
Before MacCoy Home Solutions ever took on its first remodel, Aaron focused on preparation. He did not want to guess his way through building a business or cut corners just to get started.
He reached out to the Small Business Development Center in Everett, where he learned how to create financial projections, build realistic budgets, and ask tough questions about sustainability and risk. Those early lessons helped shape a company built to last.
With just $5,000 in operating capital, the priorities were simple. Invest in a professional website, print business cards, and secure one small project. The goal was not fast growth. The goal was to do great work and earn trust.
That mindset still defines the company today and is reflected in the way MacCoy Home Solutions approaches every project, from planning through completion. You can learn more about that philosophy on the Our Process page.
Growing Through Relationships, Not Shortcuts
MacCoy Home Solutions did not grow through flashy marketing or rapid expansion. It grew through people.
Friends helped on early projects. Neighbors referred neighbors. Clients shared their experiences with friends and family. One of those early helpers, Bill, is still part of the team today, which speaks volumes about the company culture.
Over the years, MacCoy Home Solutions has built a strong reputation by focusing on communication, craftsmanship, and long-term relationships. That approach has resulted in a portfolio of completed work that reflects both quality and care. You can explore examples of that work in the Home Remodeling Projects gallery.
“As long as we keep doing right by the people we serve and the community we live in,” Aaron says, “I believe people will keep choosing us.”
Why Giving Back Has Always Mattered
For Aaron, success has never been only about business growth. It has always been about responsibility.
That sense of responsibility became even clearer when he started coaching youth sports. What began as coaching girls’ volleyball quickly turned into something much deeper. He saw how important mentorship, encouragement, and safe spaces are for kids and families.
MacCoy Home Solutions began sponsoring youth teams, movie nights, skating events, gym rentals, and equipment so kids could continue playing and connecting. Over time, those efforts grew into the Jaguars Community Organization, a nonprofit focused on mentoring youth through athletics, recreation, and community involvement.
This commitment to ethics, service, and community impact is also reflected in the recognition MacCoy Home Solutions has received over the years. You can view those honors on the company’s Recognition page.
“We’re fortunate enough to be stable,” Aaron says. “When your basic needs are met, you have the ability and the responsibility to look beyond yourself.”
Helping Where You Can Make the Most Impact
At a recent event hosted by the Verdant Health Commission, Aaron found himself surrounded by organizations addressing the community’s most serious challenges. Hunger, housing insecurity, safety, and access to resources were all front and center.
It was eye-opening.
“I realized I can’t solve every problem,” Aaron explains. “But I can help in the way I’m equipped to help.”
That realization reinforced the mission behind the Jaguars Community Organization. The goal is simple but powerful. Provide kids with safe, supportive spaces where they feel cared for while their families navigate life’s challenges.
“If a parent is dealing with stress or paperwork and their kid is safe, fed, encouraged, and mentored with us, that matters,” he says.
What This Means for Our Clients
The same values that guide MacCoy Home Solutions’ involvement in the community show up in every remodeling project.
Clients experience clear communication, thoughtful planning, and a process that respects their home and their time. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every project is treated as personal because it is.
